This
is off the Blackhawk web site.
Plan Your Trip Our meet is held in Davenport, Iowa
at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds. Davenport is the largest
city in the Quad Cities, a metropolitan area made up of actually
five cities; Bettendorf and Davenport Iowa and Moline, East Moline
and Rock Island, Illinois. There are links to maps and area hotels
to the right. The meet is easy to get to from Interstates 74, 80
and 280. If you are flying, the local airport is the Quad Cities
International Airport located in Moline that is about a 30 minute
drive to the meet. If you are shopping for low airfare consider
Chicago, IL (3 hour drive), Peoria IL (1 ½ hour drive), Dubuque
IA (1 hour drive) and Cedar Rapids IA(1 ½ hour drive) as
alternatives airports. CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
There is a lot of construction in and around Davenport to be aware
of. First, Interstate 74 Bridge is under major construction and
traffic is usually back-up. If you must go this way, 7 am to 9 am
and from 3 pm to 6 pm. The Arsenal (Government) Bridge is also under
minor construction, but this bridge is often open for barges. The
Centenial Bridge is also under construction. This bridge is busy
the same hours as Interstate 74.So, try to use either Interstate
80 Bridge or Interstate 280 bridge. Both of these are open to traffic
and you shouldn't run into any delays. However, Locust Street is
Closed just west of the meet grounds. If you are taking 280 you'll
need to exit on River Drive/Rockingham or Kimberly Road. Kimberly
road is recommended - especially for those of you with trailers.

October
7th thru the 9th of 2002. We headed down to the Death Valley, California
Run. This is one of the best road runs of the year.
The limit was 100 riders. We'll stayed at the Furnace Creek Resort.
Tom Hart of the So Cal AMCA handled the entries and Lon Bubeck,
Max's son, ran the ralley. Great job guys. Below are a few photos
of the run. You can click on the pictures for a larger image.
See
you there next year,

Here
are two of Peter Arundel's bikes. A Vard front end equipped 38-39
Indian Four and a Chief with a Vincent motor, or, a Vindian. Peter
flew over from Australia to ride in Death Valley and brought about
a dozen friends. They had their bikes shipped over in a container
and they retrieved them four hours before the west coast dock workers
were locked out in late Sept. |
